PowerBI New Button Slicer (Nov 2023) and adding images

Hi to all the experts! And thank you all the work you do for people like me!

I have watched several videos regarding adding images to the new button slicer with the Nov 2023 PowerBI release; in almost everything I have seen, the user just clicked the "Add data" button and checked the checkbox of the URL field (called WG in my dataset), which was added to the image field button. However, whenever I try to check the checkbox, nothing at all happens. You can see the WG field checked below but not populating the box. I have ensured that it is categorized as an image URL (though in some of the videos, it was uncategorized); I also made sure there was an image for all the values in the slicer (currently 9). I have confirmed that the URL for the image works (you can click it in Excel), but I cannot figure out what step I am missing to be able to add it as an image on the new button slicer. I've spent a good amount of time troubleshooting various things to no avail. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you! YL

Hmm, that depends on URL. And if it's interpreted as valid.

For test, I used google image search result and used jpeg base64 string as url. And it worked fine.

Code:
data:image/jpeg;base64,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

Thank you. I think the URL should be valid, though I guess I don't know how to determine that. It's posted on my company's website (direct link https://walshgallegos.com/images/footerLogo2.png). And I am able to use the image in other visuals (like the table), so I am not sure why it is not allowing me to add it to the button slicer. I'll research jpeg base64 and see if that may shed any light on it. Thanks!

For reference, I copied the exact code you provided as an image URL in my table, and again, I was able to load the image in a table but it was not working when trying to select that to add image to the button slicer. I'm thinking it may just a setting that isn't configured correctly, but I will continue to play around with it. Thanks.

In my tests, blank cells and invalid urls didn't affect adding the field to the images section; the images simply didn't show up on the buttons.

Thanks everyone. I've been playing around with this, and it seems like after I create calculation groups, it's at that point that the image URL for the button doesn't work. I completely rebuilt my dashboard, one element at a time, and i had no problem adding the image URL, and then when i created my calculation groups, it no longer worked. I have no idea why that would be the case, but i thought of that since the first time I wanted to use it was after I had already created some calculation groups. And after I rebuilt everything one element at a time and then created calc groups, I delete the image URL and tried to add it back, and it didn't work. So I have to assume that is the reason. Again, no idea why, but i wanted to post what I had found in case anyone else may find it useful.

Thank you for your assistance Debaser and Chihiro.
