Need Serious Help on a Moving Bubble Chart - Please

Char Nielsen

New Member
I would like to create a moving bubble chart with the attached data.
The x axis would be the month.
The names would be on the y axis.
The width of the bubble would correlate to the number of encounters each month.
So the bubbles would start at January, and move through the months, ending at the Average.
(I don't have December data yet)
I'm not fluent in VGA coding. Am I in over my head?
Please help.
Thank you!

Hi ,

What do you mean by a moving bubble chart ?

Narayan

I think the OP is after a visual/chart technique close to something like this, but I do not see the added value with his data.
When a time frame is selected (here a month) then the line shows how the data points moved through time. So it started on P1 (JAN) and moved to P2, then P3 and current state is P4 (April as selected).
For the OP there is no selection, but showing the pattern sounds similar.

How does this work?
It is simply an illusion. There are 2 identical charts overlaying each other. The first one is a scatter line chart, and the second one a bubble chart. Dummy series make it "evolve" and highlight the end point dynamically. This can work with a time slicer as well, but when I made this some time ago, I was still using XL-2010.
With the given data making something of the sort is difficult and I'm not sure the result will show "something" (other then a colour book).

Awesome. Thanks for your reply.
I know there is a way to animate the chart, using form controls (scroll bar, etc).
So I was hoping to show a moving progression over time.
I appreciate your feedback.

In the attached very rudimentary animation.
Select your name in cell B28, click Button, or adjust scroll bar.

Thank you! That's PERFECT!
Hopefully, I can learn from what you did and extend that to the rest of the data.
Thanks you SO much!!!

You could see ALL Your data in one time (all - not every second)
Click any cell within heavier border and see ... both (name & month) axes same time.
All further steps depends of Your needs...
>> Why Bubble-Chart? ... or what would Bubbles size show for You?
Could You show Your data eg with Bars? ... check one sample version of that.
