Excel Query about Index and Match Function

Hi Somendra, Narayan and Other Friends,

I have a query regarding Index and Match Function; hence request you all kindly help me out.

When using the Index+ Match Function for multiple criteria I will be getting #N/A as result, as soon as I enter Ctrl+Shift+Enter then function is working correctly. Further, the formula is not allowing to copy more than one row, whereas we can copy other formulas to following rows until we need the result with a singly click. Here, it is not working and allowing more than one cell and every time need to enter Ctrl+Shift+Enter against corresponding cell.

My query is, If the data is sizable it may consumes good amount of time. Hence, please let me know how we can copy the Index+ Match formula likewise other formulas to complete the work fatly.

Your Kind views in this regard would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Kumar

Dear Narayan,

Thank for writing. Please find attached a sample excel sheet herewith for your ready reference. Kindly note that I wanted to copy TDS amount which is in Sheet 1 (C- column) to below cells by using copy& paste command. In this regard, it is not allowing, besides getting an error message (attached a screen shot the same). Hence, please guide me how to remove the error in order to copy the formula to below rows. As I mentioned above, it would be difficult if the data is in sizable amount to copy the function into each cell.

Your support for the same is appreciated.

Hi Kumar..

Did you tried..
* Copy the formula from C3.
* paste the formula in anywhere.. except C3.

What you are trying.. is copying and pasting the formula in same cell (or including the same cell)

avoid it.. it will work.. infact.. you can drag also..

Hi Kumar,

Regarding your sample file, I noticed one error, In your data validation drop down in cell B1 you had given a two dimensional range. I had changed it to one dimensional, and dragged the formula down, see if this works for you.
