Cut data from main sheet to a new sheet according to a specific criteria

I have a main sheet contains data of 100s employees in different departments. I would like to open new work sheet and enter the name of the department in a specific cell and after that the full data of all employees of that department got copied from the main sheet and past in this new sheet in the same order. How can i do this ?

do you have plans with the copied department specific data? (curious if you actually need to manipulate the data or just for viewing/printing abilities.

if you are just looking to be able to see/print a list of people in each dept. then i would just enable the Filter tool. select 1 or all of your field lables --> Home Ribbon --> Sort&Filter button. this should add drop-down arrows on each field name. you can then go to the Dept. field and select the desired department. any record (name) that contains that same department will only be displayed. then you can view/print the list.

if youre looking to get an actual copy of the data to further manipulate... there a couple of ways to do this. vlookups, pivottables, advanced filter tool, etc..

Hi, amr@baseqat.com!

First of all welcome to Chandoo's website Excel forums. Thank you for your joining us and glad to have you here.

Among them you're prompted to perform searches within this site before posting, because maybe your question had been answered yet.

And about questions in general...

If you haven't performed yet the search herein, try going to the topmost right zone of this page (Custom Search), type the keywords used in Tags field when creating the topic or other proper words and press Search button. You'd retrieve many links from this website, like the following one(s) -if any posted below-, maybe you find useful information and even the solution. And about this question in particular...

I was just for another thing I run into this:
