HELLO EVERYONE OUT THERE, CAN ANYONE COME UP WITH AN ANIMATED CHART, SOMETHING THAT MOVES SMOOTHLY....IF YOU HAVE SEEN THE EXCEL HERO WEB SITE....CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN HOW THAT IS DONE...OR BETTER CAN ANYONE SUGGEST AN EASIER METHOD HOW TO DO ANIMATION IN CHARTS.

CHANDOO...WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN THIS...IF YOU CAN GIVE AN EXAMPLE IN YOUR NEXT EPISODE.

I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO LEARN ANIMATION EVEN IF IT IS WITH VBA....

COOL STUFF EVERYDAY FROM YOU GUYS OUT THERE.............

THANKS,

MUSTAFA

Download one of Daniels animated charts and pull it apart

You will find that he uses a combination of Named Ranges and VBA to animate the charts

The VBA is generally fairly simple

Animation is achieved by changing 1 variable using VBA between a starting and ending value in a given number of steps

The Number is generally placed into a Named Range and then used to change another range by some formula to get new values of the named range

Then the chart is updated giving the effect of animation.

One of the simpler animations at ExcelHero.com is my Lilac Chaser which Daniel posted at: http://www.excelhero.com/blog/2010/05/excel-optical-illusions-14.html

Another way to tackle smaller animations is shown here: http://chandoo.org/wp/2010/11/30/excel-animation-without-macros/

Seriously:

The excel hero stuff is pretty straightforward. It's not a 'learn it in 15 minutes' sort of thing, but with an hour worth of effort....
