Pivot Table Sorting by Values

Hello all,

I have a spread sheet with three columns for "Detailed data", A=Product#", B="Product Description", C="Department", the first Value column is D="Total Unit Cost" E thru BC are other values that correspond to column A thru D. Here is the problem I need to sort on Total Unit Cost as the main sort, but column A or B or even C keep taking over the sort. Right now I have about the best sort I know how to do but row 11 has a value of 396.73 in between 35K and 16K for the life of me I don't know why. I have tried every combination and or tips from other web sites but the same results. Can any one help?

It will be difficult for anyone to help with just a screen shot, a file upload would help

I'm guessing that you want to know how to sort PivotTable columns when there is no DATA FILTER (down arrow) over that column. If so, in Excel 2010:
- click the DATA FILTER arrow in your first column (Product Number)
- Click on MORE SORT OPTIONS
- Choose Ascending or Descending
- then choose which column you want it to be sorted by

Hope this helps!
