Hi Suresh,
For us non-financial types, can you explain what "payback period" means?

Ok

Try this in the place of Qtr formua:

Code:
=((MAX(IF(B7:M7<0,COLUMN(B7:M7)))-1)+ABS(MAX(IF(B7:M7<1,B7:M7)))/(OFFSET(A5,0,MAX(IF(B7:M7<0,COLUMN(B7:M7))))))

Press Ctrl+Shift+Enter to run.

One more things I would like to say .Can you derive the formula as I have presented the question without any helper sheet/workings for solutions.

You mean to say that without cumulative cash flow row?? BTW is that formula in the last post worked for you?

without cumulative cashflows as well as without breakdown of 3rd year into further 4 quarter. Here is two parts.
Hope you have understood.
One thing I would like to say is that I really like your array formula.

HI @paradise

So far not sucessful. :( you can continue with current format until... and for the case that has no four quarters, use four cell but put data in only two, that should work. Thank alot.

Hi @paradise !

Can you please check the formula.. below.. Is this is correct way to decide "PayBack Period"!!

I dont have any Financial knowledge.. :(

In B9, use CSE Formula as..
="Qtr " & MATCH(0,MMULT(N(TRANSPOSE(COLUMN(CashFlow))>=COLUMN(CashFlow)),TRANSPOSE(CashFlow)),1)

Let us know.. if you are looking for any VBA based approach..
