P&ID combined with excel VBA???

Hi Ninjas!
I am considering a project that will facilitate some of the work our sales team do to promote our product.
I was dreaming today and had this idea to use object in vizio and combine with excel or create some objects in excel that will enable the user to make a P&ID.
based on their design and the objects selected the vba code will make certain calculation and generate BOM, COST...
NOTE: They will be only 15 objects to select and create the configuration
the P&ID below is just a sample from online not exactly what I expect; but it should give an idea what I am trying to achieve

1. Is this even possible?
2. Did anyone work on a similar project?
3. Did anyone see an example somewhere where this idea is used with excel that can be shared?

Did you figure this out? I too am in sales and am trying to automate P&ID's/PFD's using drop down menus for process equipment. Any tips or examples you could share to point me in the right direction would be appreciated.
