Locking a Link Formula on a sheet/workbook

How can I make sure a link will not change in a file. I have a file that that links information from a sheet in workbook. For example, Class sheet is where I input all of my entry data. When I input the data in the Class sheet it inputs the info in the Matrix1 sheet. But I have noticed that when I copy the file to a new folder or I take from home to my office computer it changes the links and breaks them or don't transfer. How can I avoid that?

You must have your files where the links are pointing too, if you remove one file and take it home then you will break the links, the same when you copy to a new folder, the links are no longer pointing to the address they had so they will be broken, if you move all the files that are linked together you would still need to re-build the links to take account of the new system.
Can you put the Matrix1 workbook on a server so that it can always have the same address for its links and can be accessed from anywhere.

.

Hi ,

Can you clarify your terminology ?

A sheet is a part of a workbook , which is in any other context a file.

Are your links in any sheet of one workbook referring to other sheets in the same workbook , or are they referring to sheets in a different workbook ? The latter are called external references.
