I had to add a column to the gantt view of my plan. How can I make added column scroll w/others?

I added a column, column J, to the gantt tab in my worksheet. The team waned to control the stoplight color by entering into column M on the Data tab. Now the stoplights won't scroll properly on the gantt tab and one of my stoplights is black. I'm intermediate level so this is really confusing to me.
