each row is a campsite, each column is a date. each row is unique
I think what I am wanting to do is Conditional Formatting, I have tried several tutorials, but they are beyond me. I have uploaded a very simple spreadsheet, attached.
If a campsite (A-1) is booked for three days (5/2 - 5/4), their initials are entered, at this point I would like to have the spreadsheet see the 3 Contiguous "mm"'s and assign a color.
"bb" booked the next two days, assign the alternate color.
"mm" (not necessarily the same person on 5/2-5/4) books one day, back to first color.
"yy" & "cc" each book one day.
"mm" & "MM" are same, and has booked two days
"CC" booked one day.
the spreadsheet is approx 73 campsites, and 200 days
I would like for it to look like the example, automatically
the idea is look at a glance at a row and tell by color what is going on.
and I need to do this for each row, individually
I am doing this for a volunteer Host at one of my favorite campgrounds.
I am not very good at this, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mack
PS: Keep instructions simple please, don't assume I understand Excel
