Help to change an Overlap formula

Hélio

Hi there, I need some help to change an overlap formula. This formula is very good, but is counting one single item twice. One item (system) can run many times inside a period of time but never at the same time. The formula is counting all times of this event as it was running all at the same time.

Please Help!!

Please see attached to understand better.

Hi ,

I think your problem description is unclear.

Firstly , I do not know what is the definition of a system ; when you talk of System 5 , there are 3 bandwidth values of 512 , 768 and 6000. Since you want an arithmetic result , adding the bandwidth values , how do you evaluate the addition of System 5 bandwidth ?

If you can clearly explain with an example which is sufficiently complicated / complex it will help ; explaining with the help of a simple example is of no use.

How do you want the bandwith summation to take place ? In the data you have shown in your workbook there are only 2 dates involved ; how are you showing 4 different values of 3072 , 2816 , 8304 and 2304 ?

Narayan, first of all thanks so much for reply and to be patient with this..
You are right, the bandwidth is wrong and I´m redefining that for you..

Please understand as a system in example your personal computer, your laptop, your tablet... At your home you have a link with a maximum bandwidth 50K.. When you turns your laptop on it will be using all possible bandwidth (10K) if you turns the tablet it will uses the maximum possible bandwidth (20K) and so on to the Personal computer (15K)... If you have all 3 systems turned on at the same time they will be concurrent of your home link summing 45kbps...

In the end of the day it does´t matter how many times the devices were turned on and off the maximum bandwidth used will not be over 45K

The formula must find just the sum of all occurrence at the same time.. In my table the system5 appears 4 times but those utilization can never be summed for each other because thay will never be running at the same time..

please the table.. I think this will be clear now..

Please don´t give up on me..
