getting info from one book to another

Hi there could some one tell mell me the formula to transfer information from one book to another on an ongoing basis or does it have to be in the same work book. for example i have used the formula ='january 13'!T4 and its transfers ok but it doesn't carry on when i update info on the first book it doesn't add it in to the second book. I am a novice at formula so i hope some understands my explanation

The formula you have posted is a reference to a cell in a worksheet within one workbook ; 'january 13' refers to a sheet tab , while T4 refers to a cell.


To reference a cell in another workbook , you need to include the full file name of the other workbook.
