Dropdown list defined by cell content?

Is there a way that I can have a dropdown list content defined by the value in a cell?

For example if the cell content was "cookies" the dropdown box would give me the list of cookie types available from a predetermined list but if I change the cell content to "cake" the dropdown list would then pull the information from my predetermined list of cakes?

I have 6 different items and a list under each item, I would like to be able to limit my dropdown list by selecting one of the 6 items

Yes. Typically called dependent validation (or dropdown) list.
