Defining Ranges and Averaging Between Two Sheets

Hi,

I have two excel sheets that I need to use - the first 'ropdata', contains information that I need to average. The second sheet, 'res. qual calculations', contains the interval that I want averaged and is also where I want the average value returned.

The goal is to take the interval start and end from 'res. qual calculations', find those in the depth column of the 'ropdata' sheet, and then average the ROP column values over that range and return that result back to the ROP column in the 'res. qual calculations' sheet. I've been trying to use ADDRESS and MATCH to get the cell addresses for the interval start and stop and passing them back an AVERAGE function but that didn't work. Then I tried to use OFFSET and MATCH but couldn't make any headway there either. I'm fairly new to working with excel formulas.

I've attached a sample file. If anyone could help me out, I would very much appreciate it.

Scott
