Creating Error Bars (4 separate ones) in a stacked bar chart

I have a chart in excel with 4 data points (means). I need to create error bars around each of the means (1 Standard Error of the mean above and below the mean). Each mean has a different standard error of the mean. It is a stacked bar chart (see attached). The automatic error bars that excel generates do not work, so I need to use the custom option, but it won't let me use 4 different errors.

Hi Anna,

From your example, I'm not sure which numbers are supposed to be data points, and which should be used as errors. Could you perhaps draw up a image (PowerPoint or paint perhaps?) showing what you are trying to create?

The means are:

Means
Self-Evaluation Professional Engineer's Evaluation
Men 0.14 0.02
Women -0.66 -0.12

The data for the error bars (standard error of the mean -- 1 SEM above the mean and 1 SEM below the mean) are:

SE of Means
Self-Evaluation Professional Engineer's Evaluation
Men 0.05 0.56
Women 0.11 0.11

This is an illustration (with different data) of what I am trying to achieve.
