Count filled cells based on date criteria from another column

Given the following information below where "date", "name" and "code" is column A, B and C respectively, I would like to know the formula that will count the cells of Column B with text based on the date I entered in (A9) which matches column A dates. The result will then shows in cell (A10).

Below example give me 2 counts based on the date I entered in cell A9 since cells B5 and B7 are empty/blank. Please help and thank you very much.

=SUMPRODUCT(($A$2:$A$8=A9)*($B$2:$B$8<>""))

Note the space after the >

Additional question please: What is the formula to get the sum of number of column C cells based on the entered criteria date. ie,
(A11) 1716
