Convert Word Outline to Excel Columns

Russell Zager

New Member
I have an outline in word that looks something like this:

  • Level 1 A
    • Level 2 C
      • Level 3 D
  • Level 1 B
I want to convert it to columns based on the outline level/indentation:

Eventually, I want to get it into database format:

I'm having the most difficulty with the first part, but if you have any tips on this part, that would be great too!

Hi Russell, I saw a similar question being posted not so long ago. And it got resolved with some fine VBA, if I'm not mistaken.
I made something with text formula's... You need to tweak it a bit though to match your type of outline.

Yeah, I saw the VBA and was looking for a formula-based solution. This works well, thanks!
