Complicated vlookup

Hi I want help. The example in the workbook is simplyfied.

Explanation : first column name of station, second the time when a spot ran on TV, In the third column I would like to have whether is super prime time, prime time or off time to accommodate the rules to the right which are different for both stations. This is my first day at work where I will use excel a lot.

fingers crossed :)

Hi Somendra

Thank you for beatiful formula, I thought that it might be done simpler. At work I sorted stations and did just Vlookup with approximate match with time separately for each station. there weren't that many. Anyways I keep your formula

Hi Tomas ,

If you use helper columns , all it needs is a VLOOKUP and an IF in combination.

After all , you have a lookup table for Super Prime Time , which should be checked first , as the limits of SPT fall within the limits of Prime Time.

Since you have not mentioned any lookup timings for Off Time , I assume that if it not SPT and it is not PT , it is OT.

Very simple , if you can just break down the logic into helper columns.

See the attached file. I am absolutely sure you could have done this yourself.

Thanks Guys,

For John's option I'll take some time at weekend to think about cause I see new functions for me. Narayan's option is probably one I will be comfortable now
