Calculating a 401K match

I am totally blanking out on this one. Maybe it's because it's just been a really long day at work.

I would like to graphically display a make believe 401K match. Here are the rules:

1. The first 4% of a salary that is contributed will be matched 100% by the company
2. The next 3% of a salary that is contributed will be matched 50% by the company
3. Anything greater will not be matched by the company.

I figured the best way to do this would be to break things down into 3 columns, one for 3%, another for 3 - 5%, and then the total.

I have been trying to figure this out for the last few hours I came close. At this point, I'm not even sure how I should approach this. Any suggestions?

Hi DN

I am finding your example difficult to follow. At this stage the words in your post and the % in the file are not the same so it is very ambiguous IMO. I think an example of the problem and hard coded solution would help.

Take care

Sorry about that. See this attached file. I included some results based on sample percentages.
