Action upon data validation

Hello Excel Wizards!

I've been trying for a while now, to figure out how to do the following in Excel.

I can do Data Validation, but I don't know how to perform an action, based upon the Data Validation choices selected.

Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Row1,Col1 (Drop Down)
Select Age : 18-49, 49-69,70-99)

Row1,Col2
If Age selected < 40, then write text to Row 1, Col2, "I am older than you".

I request you to clearly define the problem.

Row1,Col1 seems to have 3 options with Age range only and not particular age.

You are comparing exact age in Row1, Col2. We cannot compare.

Will you be able to enclose any file to explain this.

Hi,

Your question is incomplete and not clear, you have not mentioned what would be the result for other selections.

See the attached with 2 options, A2 is drop down to select age range.
B2 contains simple VLOOKUP formula, I have used a helper column.
