Can a data validation pulldown include a "reset" to all values?

I am using some of the technique I learned from Chandoo's videos to have users select values in pulldowns (data validation lists based on UNIQUE values in data) that are then called in a FILTER formula to display results. In a very simple example, say there was a 2-option pulldown for dog/cat and another 2-option pulldown for wet food/dry food that are controlling the display. Is it possible to have the option to rest one of the pulldowns to "all" so they a user could see the results just based on the other (i.e., Dog + ALL food). Or does that approach require Slicers since they have the reset option built in? Is there a formulaic way to pass a wildcard to the FILTER expression? Thanks!
